Be Obsessively Grateful

Last night we had a sleepover.

My beautiful #LittleLove and our mutt #LittleCharles camped out on my bed last night. But as I lay there last night with my beautiful little one holding my hand while she slept, I couldn’t help but REFLECT on a great day, but beyond that…my BLESSINGS.

So today, I am OBSESSIVELY GRATEFUL.

I am GRATEFUL for my sweet #LittleLove who is so full of spirit.
I am GRATEFUL for my crazy dog who barks at everyone.
I am GRATEFUL for the roof over my head.
I am GRATEFUL for a job that allows me to provide for my family.
I am GRATEFUL for my family who loves me unconditionally.
I am GRATEFUL for my friends who are always there for me.
I am GRATEFUL for my health.
I am GRATEFUL for my faith.
I am GRATEFUL for my morning cup of coffee.
I am GRATEFUL for music.
I am GRATEFUL for that each day is a new opportunity to START OVER when needed.

Fuel The Soul -Begin-Each-Day-With-A-Grateful-Heart

So while I could have woken up this morning complaining about the chilly May weather, the fact that I had the smallest place to sleep on a king size bed, or that I have a list of chores today I would rather not do because I want to stay in bed all day…I choose to be GRATEFUL with my morning cup of coffee.

Yes, we will always find things to be grumpy about and then wonder why we are so stressed. It’s life, it happens. I am continuing to learn to be more aware how my thought patterns affect me. They say that the benefits of practicing gratitude are nearly endless. People who regularly practice gratitude by taking time to notice and reflect upon the things they’re thankful for experience more positive emotions, feel more alive, sleep better, express more compassion and kindness, and even have stronger immune systems. But how can we be more grateful in our daily lives?

  1. Say “Thank you” more often.
  2. Bring yourself into the PRESENT moment.
  3. Use more positive language.
  4. Spend time with people you love.
  5. Reflect on your day.
  6. Try not to compare yourself to others.
  7. Be humble.
  8. Set aside alone time. Meditate. Appreciate nature.
  9. Be brutally with yourself. What brings YOU joy?
  10. Enjoy Life!
